Policies

Thank you for choosing Tale of the Dog! To ensure the safety, health, and happiness of all our guests, we kindly ask that you review and adhere to the following policies. Safety is our top priority, and our goal is to provide a secure, clean, and stimulating environment for your furry family members.

1. Mandatory Temperament Evaluation

  • All dogs must undergo a temperament evaluation before joining our daycare or boarding program.
  • Tale of the Dog reserves the right to refuse or remove any dog that may pose a safety risk to themselves, other dogs, or staff members. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Dogs that exhibit aggression, possessiveness (toward people or toys), excessive anxiety, or signs of illness.
  • Dogs must be at least 9 months old and must be spayed or neutered to attend daycare or boarding.

2. Vaccination Requirements

For the safety of all pets, we require proof of current vaccinations before your dog’s first visit. All dogs must be vaccinated against:

  • Rabies
  • Bordetella
  • DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus)

3. Flea Protection

  • Our spacious 1/3-acre outdoor pasture allows dogs to run and play freely, so effective flea prevention is essential.
  • All dogs must be on a veterinarian-approved flea prevention program. Accepted treatments include:
    • Frontline
    • Advantage Multi
    • K9 Advantix
    • Revolution

4. Heartworm Prevention

  • All dogs must be on a veterinarian-approved heartworm prevention program. Accepted products include:
    • Heartgard
    • Advantage Multi
    • Revolution

5. Collars and Leashes

  • All dogs must arrive and leave the facility on a leash to ensure the safety of all pets and clients during transitions.

6. Feeding Guidelines

  • Dogs attending daycare should be fed at home prior to drop-off.
  • If your dog requires feeding during their visit or is boarding with us, please bring their food from home.
  • We will feed each dog individually and separately from others to maintain their routine.

7. Sleeping Arrangements

  • Boarding dogs will sleep indoors in a climate-controlled lounge area, socializing with a group of compatible friends.
  • We provide beds and cots for their comfort.
  • If your dog prefers to sleep in a crate, let us know, and we’ll gladly accommodate their needs.

8. Toys and Personal Belongings

  • To prevent possessiveness or aggression, we do not allow personal toys or beds from home.
  • Tale of the Dog provides a variety of toys and beds to ensure every dog is comfortable.

9. Food and Treats

  • To maintain dietary consistency, we require all dogs being fed in our care to bring their own food.
  • We provide healthy treats throughout the day as rewards.
  • Please let us know if your dog has food allergies or if you prefer they not receive treats.

10. Service Fees

  • All fees are due at the time services are rendered.
  • We accept:
    • Checks
    • Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover)
    • Cash
